BOTOLAN, Zambales — Gov. Hermogenes Ebdane Jr. on Sunday began a new term with a powerful call to “lead beyond the edge,” urging unity, bold governance and forward-thinking leadership to secure a better future for the Zambaleño.

Speaking at the Botolan People’s Plaza before local officials, community leaders and residents, the governor reflected on his 15-year journey in public service, noting the importance of courage and vision in transforming the province.

He recalled how Zambales once took risks when others hesitated, pushing past uncertainty to pursue a shared dream for progress.

“This is more than a continuation. It is a new chapter and a renewed call to build our legacy together,” Ebdane said.

He noted that what once existed only in plans — such as roads, schools, hospitals and thriving communities — now stands as proof of collective effort and resilience.

Ebdane highlighted key accomplishments under his administration.

In health, he said the province had hired more specialists and upgraded medical facilities.

In education, the “Handog Edukasyon” program was expanded, and partnerships with schools were strengthened.

The governor also pointed to progress in agriculture and fisheries through initiatives like the Zambales Green Mango Valley and the Maritime Development Council.

His infrastructure development program, he said, focused on high-impact and accessible projects that benefit communities directly.

Social services for indigent families were also strengthened through increased financial, livelihood and health assistance.

Meanwhile, governance reforms emphasized transparency, digitalization and fiscal independence — transforming Zambales into a first-class province.

Looking forward, Ebdane said that future-ready leadership must embrace agility, adaptability, innovation and data-driven decision-making.

He said that the government must not only react to change but lead it with strategic foresight. Among the goals he laid out were inclusive health care, a self-sustaining economy, modern infrastructure and institutional excellence.

Calling for respect and balance between executive and legislative functions, Ebdane reminded fellow officials that public service is not a privilege, but a responsibility.

“While I execute, you legislate. Harmony and clarity in governance matter,” he said.

In closing, Ebdane thanked the people of Zambales for their trust and pledged to continue what his administration has started.

“This is our time. Let us lead beyond the edge — and let’s begin now,” the governor said.
