CARMONA CITY — A policeman died while another is critical following a shooting incident inside the Carmona City Police Station on Wednesday morning, July 2, 2025.
The slain policeman was identified as MSg. Joel Mendoza, while Senior Police Officer Joseph Martin Fabula suffered a gunshot wound and is under observation in the hospital.
The suspect who also died in the incident was identified by the alias “Oliver,” 29, a Muslim and a resident of Barangay Limook, Basilan.
Alias “Oliver,” police said, had just gotten out of jail and was caught by the Carmona police on a trespassing case.
According to the police report, the incident occurred at 9:20 a.m., when the suspect was brought to the Carmona Component City Police Station, after a complaint was filed for trespassing.

While the suspect was inside the police station and still not handcuffed, he allegedly suddenly grabbed a gun from the police escort, Sgt. Mendoza, and fired indiscriminately, hitting the two victims.
Other police officers inside the station were forced to shoot the victim.
The two police officers were rushed to the hospital, but Mendoza died.
One Glock 9 mm caliber with serial number PNP 13552, issued firearm of the slain victim, was recovered from the crime scene.
