Pearl and Reginald, the shortest living dog and the tallest living male dog

Guinness World Records

MANILA, Philippines — Two dogs that are current Guinness World Record (GWR) holders because of their heights met up for a fun playdate.

Pearl, a four-year-old chihuahua and the shortest living dog at 9.14 centimeters, met seven-year-old Great Dane Reginald, the tallest living male dog at just over a meter tall, in the latter's house in Idaho.

The two dogs have a height difference of 91.56 centimeters, which GWR said is the height of a baseball bat, an acoustic guitar, and the tallest stack of waffles (91.5 centimeters, another record).

GWR coordinated Pearl's journey to Idaho from Florida with her owner Vanesa Semler, who said Pearl is really friendly whenever meeting bigger dogs.

"I think she has no idea she is a small dog. Normally, she's really playful with bigger dogs, she just wants to be around [them]," Semler added.

Reginald or Reggie's owner, Sam Johnson Reiss, said similar comments about his dog. Reiss said Reggie "gets along really well with other dogs and other human beings," noting that the dog is very cautious and aware.

"Obviously, bringing the smallest dog in the world with the tallest dog in the world, there was a little bit of anxiety, but I think he was very gentle [and] very, very kind [to Pearl], as best as he could be. And then, when he was done, he was done," Reiss said.

Semler added in agreement that Reggie probably stayed away from Pearl a lot out of gentleness and care.

"I think you can see through the photos and videos the love we have for our pets, they're part of the family," Semler ended.
