The candidates of Miss Universe Philippines 2025 took center stage at Okada Manila on Thursday evening for this year's National Costume Showcase, presenting grand looks inspired by Philippine mythology.
From divine goddesses and ethereal diwatas to fearsome Filipino beasts, the 66 candidates showcased their imaginative portrayals through world-class creations by Filipino designers.
The event featured deities like Hanan (worn by Bulacan's Franchezca Mae Pacheco), the Philippine goddess of the morning, light, and new beginnings, symbolizing resilience and optimism, and Mayari (worn by Liliw, Laguna's Pauline Rowbelle), the goddess of the moon, depicted with celestial beauty and warrior strength.
Fearsome figures included the sigbin (worn by Tacloban City's Angela Cabel), a shadowy creature known for walking backward and glowing eyes, the tiyanak (worn by Siargao's Millien Joy Cabigas), a creature that lures victims with innocent cries, the aswang (worn by Muntinlupa's Winwyn Marquez), a graceful figure that masks a terrifying truth, and the tiktik (worn by Quezon Province's Ahtisa Manalo), recreated with bold silhouettes and winglike accents.
Other costumes also drew inspiration from local legends and natural elements, like Maria Makiling (worn by Siniloan, Laguna's Yllana Marie Aduana) and Ibong Adarna (worn by Dipolog City's Jazzle Shannen Taga Iba).
The winner of the national costume competition will be announced on Miss Universe Philippines' grand coronation night.
The national pageant will be held on May 2, 6 p.m., at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
