MANILA, Philippines — Despite finishing a degree that is a bit far from his job and the threats he received, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority Special Operations Group Strike Force head Gabriel Go still finds fulfillment in his duty at the MMDA.
In an interview over The STAR online show “Truth on the Line,” Go said that the “most rewarding feeling is not something like an award, or I would say not material, but fulfillment.”
He did not expect that the efforts of his team, primarily traffic management and road clearing, would “expand and touch even younger generations,” including elementary pupils and high school students.
Go maintains an account on video platform TikTok that currently has over 478,000 followers and 8.2 million likes.
Videos filmed by vlogger known by the name Dada Koo and posted on Go’s TikTok account usually featured the MMDA’s road clearing operations that included removing illegally parked vehicles and reminding owners of parked cars and other road obstructions to follow traffic rules.

Although his job is fulfilling, Go admitted having received threats, even “serious” ones.
“I shrug them off, but I take them seriously and take precautions,” he said.
Finishing a degree in consular and diplomatic affairs at De La Salle – College of Saint Benilde in 2010, Go said his current position was “a hard job to take up.”
Moments after Go’s interview with The STAR, he was threatened with charges for reportedly berating a police officer for illegal parking, which was filmed and became viral on social media.
It also prompted a call from National Police Commission chief Rafael Vicente Calinisan for “a little more courtesy,” noting that while police officers are not spared from apprehension for traffic law violations, their privacy must be upheld.
