BUTUAN City — Local government units in parts of the Caraga Region suspended classes on Friday because of the heavy downpour due to the shear line.
Agusan del Sur Gov. Santiago Cane Jr. ordered the suspension of classes at all levels in public and private schools.
"All members of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, municipal and barangay officials, government employees, and other agencies are directed to implement necessary disaster response measures," Cane said.
Bayugan City, San Francisco, Veruela, Talacogon, and La Paz also suspended classes.
In Surigao del Sur, Tandag City Mayor Roxanne Pimentel suspended classes from kindergarten to senior high school.

Cortes, San Agustin, San Miguel, and Hinatuan also suspended classes.
In Surigao del Norte, Placer Mayor Jovymarie Villason suspended elementary school classes.
Local governments advised residents in low-lying and landslide-prone areas to monitor advisories and be prepared for evacuations.
