ILOILO CITY — A high-profile anti-narcotics operation led to the arrest of three siblings on Wednesday in Barangay Lanit, Jaro in this city.

The suspects were identified by their aliases, Gigi and Andy, both classified as high-value targets, and their younger sister, Remely. All three are residents of Barangay Lanit.

The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) reported that the operation initially targeted Gigi and Andy, who allegedly conspired to sell a sachet of suspected shabu for P12,000 to an undercover police officer.

As the arrest was being carried out, Andy attempted to flee toward the back of their house, which led the police to another structure where he was ultimately apprehended.

During the chase, their sister Remely intervened by blocking the path of pursuing officers. Her actions resulted in an immediate arrest for obstruction of justice.

Eighteen plastic sachets containing suspected shabu were recovered during the operation, including 15 sachets and two knot-tied plastic packs found in their possession.

The confiscated drugs weighed around 150 grams, with an estimated street value of P1.02 million.

Gigi was previously arrested for a drug-related offense in 2016 but was released from jail in 2020.

The ICPO also suspect that Gigi utilized her brother Andy as a courier, tasked with transporting their drug supply from Bacolod City.

Gigi and Andy will face charges for violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, while Remely will be charged with obstruction of justice under Presidential Decree No. 1829.
