Barbie Hsu’s husband, DJ Koo, has broken his silence as he grieves his wife's untimely death.

The South Korean rapper and former member of dance duo Clon posted a statement on Instagram in both Chinese and Korean.

“My angel went back to heaven on February 2, 2025,” DJ Koo, whose real name is Koo Jun Yup said, according to a translation.

“I am currently in a state of indescribable sadness and pain, with a heart as if being cut by a knife, and my insides are torn apart. I have no strength to speak, nor do I want to speak,” he added.

DJ Koo expressed his “deepest gratitude to the many people who are mourning” Barbie.

However, he said that despite the mourning, there are “devilish people” who are tarnishing Barbie and her family.

“It is terrifying to think that such cruel people truly exist in this world. Please, can you just let Hsu rest in peace?” DJ Koo said.

He also mentioned some who are walking in the rain and pretending to mourn.

According to a report on South China Morning Post, this may be a reference to Barbie’s first husband, Chinese businessman Wang Xiaofei, who was spotted walking in the rain after learning of her death.

DJ Koo also addressed reports on Barbie’s money and inheritance matters, saying that he will give the inheritance to Barbie’s mother.

“All of [Barbie’s] assets were earned through her hard work to support the family she loved, so I have decided to give full authority over them to my mother-in-law,” he said.

He also said that he will take legal measures to make sure Barbie’s children are protected from “wicked people."

“The time I spent with [Barbie] was an irreplaceable and priceless gift. I believe that protecting the family she loved most is the last thing I can do for her.”

DJ Koo ended his message by thanking everyone for their love and condolences.

Barbie and DJ Hsu first dated in 1998, but broke up due to the singer’s management being against the relationship, according to Channel News Asia.

They rekindled their relationship and got married in 2022.

Barbie passed away due to influenza-induced pneumonia while in Japan. She was 48 years old.

On Thursday, it was reported that Barbie’s ashes are now in Taiwan.

Tributes poured in from Barbie’s fellow artists and “Meteor Garden” fans for their beloved Shan Cai.

Dong Shan Cai was the fierce main character in the series. It follows her life, and her encounters with four wealthy boys, Dao Ming Si (Jerry Yan), Xi Men (Ken Chu), Mei Zuo (Vanness Wu), Hua Ze Lei (Vic Chou), at school.

Ken and Jerry posted tributes to the late star.

Rainie Yang, who played her best friend in the series, also honored Barbie.
