Art in the Park is happening this weekend!
For its 19th edition, the fair continues to promise a time filled with affordable art, creativity, community, and an overall good atmosphere.
Here is a quick guide about what Art in the Park has to offer:
1. When, where, and how much
The one-day event will be on Sunday, March 23, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. at the Jaime Velasco Park in Salcedo Village, Makati City.
As in previous years, entrance is free.
Apart from the 61 participants, there will also be 22 food and drink booths all day, plus dining tents.
The festival map is up on Art in the Park’s website and social media pages.
2. Exhibitors
This year, Art in the Park will feature 61 exhibitors representing galleries, collectives, and independent art spaces.
And just like in previous years, fair organizers—the same team behind Art Fair Philippines—have selected three Filipino artists for this year’s special exhibits.
Carlo Tanseco will present a piece from his acclaimed Rizal Matchbox series for the first time in two years. It's called “Rizal Matchbox: Liyaban ang Apoy ng Kagitingan (Mid-Open – Red),” a large acrylic piece on box canvas, which Art in the Park says is "first of its kind at this particular size to be released by the artist."
Multimedia visual artist TRNZ will present “A Study on Quiet Disguises,” a series of portraits featuring items or elements outside of their usual context.
Finally, contemporary mixed-media artist AR Manalo will present “Princess in the Park,” featuring subjects that are often overlooked during a daily commute, like blue-collar workers, delivery riders, and street vendors.
3. Benefits
Dubbed the country’s most affordable art fair, artworks are priced at a maximum of P70,000.
Art in the Park is also a fundraising event, and will benefit the Museum Foundation of the Philippines in support of its projects and programs for the National Museum of the Philippines and its network.
4. Good vibes
Beyond art, and with a focus on creating a convenient and vibrant experience, Art in the Park has curated a cheerful and lively vibe at the fair with live music.
The performers are singer-songwriter duo Leanne and Naara with their acoustic pop songs, Mario Serrano of EST City with an all-vinyl DJ set, and Soulful Mood with easy jazz music. — Nika Rogue/LA, GMA Integrated News
