The theme this year was Her Earth, Her Future: Women at the Forefront of Sustainability.

Sining Filipina is a nationwide art competition for women, which is in its second year. With intent, the competition culminates with an Awarding Ceremony at the end of March, so it becomes part of the Women’s Month celebration of SM Supermalls, which collaborate with Zonta Makati in mounting the contest. This year, the competition was presented by ChinaBank, with the logistical support of AirSpeed. The theme this year was Her Earth, Her Future: Women at the Forefront of Sustainability.

Having been around during last year’s iteration, I can say the entries this year were definitely of a higher quality, and if you drop by the Atrium area of SM Aura, you can view the exhibit that goes on until April 3rd. It’s a wonderful opportunity to appreciate the artistry of these budding artists, one of the grand winners never had any formal art education, and yet excelled.

Unfortunately, I had come from another event, so by the time I got to SM Aura, Sining Pilipina was winding down. So many thanks to SM Supermalls' "Super-Woman," Grace Magno, as a number of the photos here come from her mobile, as she took "groufies," and chronicled the inspiring and joyous event. It’s unsung and novice artists given a quality platform to establish their credentials. The smiles on the faces of the winners say it all!
