Seventeen patients suffering from lumps have undergone operation through GMA Kapuso Foundation's Operation Bukol Project.

As seen in Mel Tiangco's report in "24 Oras" on Monday, Jevelyn Roda endured a lump on her throat for almost 20 years because of goiter.

"Nahihirapan po ako sa paghinga tapos ang tulog ko paputol-putol, sa pagkain at paglunok ng tubig," she said.

But with the help of GMA Kapuso Foundation, Jevelyn was among those who received an operation at the Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center, where her lump was removed.

According to Earn, Nose and Throat (ENT) doctor Dr. Gil Vicente, goiter is caused by the lack of iodine in the body.

"May mga pasyente tayo na lumalaki 'yung ganito is because hindi sila masyado kumakain, hindi sila nagtatake ng iodine," he said. "Kung ganyan kalaki na, ready na siyang operahan."

Aside from Jevelyn, Cesar Doy also got his tumor in the shoulder removed through the Operation Bukol Project.

"Kahit wala pang one year kahit magbuhat ako medyo OK na sya," Cesar said.

Thirty-eight more patients will undergo surgery under the Operation Bukol Project.

For those who are interested to help, GMA Kapuso Foundation is accepting donations through bank deposits, Cebuana Lhuillier, GCash, Shopee, PayMaya, Zalora, MegaMart, Globe Rewards, Metrobank credit card, and Lazada.
