8 stores set to open this year

MANILA, Philippines —  Wilcon Depot Inc. is ramping up its expansion this year, with plans to add as much as eight stores in its network to support demand for major home improvement and finishing construction supplies in more parts of the country.

Wilcon senior executive vice president and chief operating officer Rosemarie Bosch-Ong told The STAR that the company has already opened three stores in January, with five more to be opened in the remainder of the year.

She said the company plans to open eight stores this year — a mix of traditional depots and smaller formats — exceeding the six branches it opened in 2025.

As of end-September 2025, Wilcon reported a total of 103 stores under its operations.

Wilcon president and CEO Lorraine Belo-Cincochan earlier said the company continues to pursue its expansion plans as it aims “to be well-positioned to capture more market share and continue to improve our service delivery with agility to be in sync with changing customer preferences.”

Wilcon was able to achieve its 100th store milestone in December 2024, a year ahead of its 2025 target.

The company, a listed home improvement and finishing construction supply retailer, started in 1977 with its first store in Quezon Avenue, Quezon City.

By expanding with its smaller store formats, Wilcon aims to make its offerings even more accessible to underserved areas.

According to Bosch-Ong, the company saw some improvement in its financial performance toward the last part of 2025.

However, she declined to provide further indications until the company’s full year 2025 financial results are released.

Wilcon’s net income declined by 11.9 percent to P1.87 billion in the first three quarters of 2025   due primarily to disruptions caused by natural calamities.

Net sales, however, improved by 2.6 percent year-on-year to P26.34 billion, driven by sales contribution from below one year-old stores.

While disruptions continued in the third quarter caused by typhoons, flooding and even earthquakes, the company said it saw demand sustain its increasing trend.

Wilcon was hoping that the trend would be sustained further and that it would be able to completely turnaround its first half results by the end of 2025.
