Here's everything that happened to the project before it was deemed unfeasible
MANILA, Philippines – The Makati City subway project has been touted as the “crowning glory” of Mayor Abby Binay.
It was supposed to be open to the public in 2025 — the same year Binay ends her third term as head of the financial district of the metropolis. However, the pandemic and, later, a Supreme Court ruling on the land dispute between Makati and Taguig would put construction work to a halt — to the dismay of the commuting public and the private partner of the Makati local government unit.
Philippine Infradev Holdings, Incorporated — the private firm that has since shelled out billions for the project — is taking the issue to an arbitration court in Singapore.
