As per MSN, Viber Pay might arrive in the Philippines during the second half of 2025. This is a highly anticipated digital wallet service with over a million Filipinos already in the waitlist. Notably, it was initially supposed to launch in September.
To clarify, this is an integrated payment solution that comes with Viber, the popular messaging app. Viber CEO Ofir Eyal highlighted that their strategy is to streamline payment processes by embedding the e-wallet within the app.
The integration aims to eliminate friction with having to switch between payment platforms and messaging apps. In other words, Viber Pay is set to simplify transactions and improve overall user experience.
Currently, Rakuten Viber is acquiring licenses in the Philippines for their upcoming digital wallet. The company is also already planning to expand its capabilities through bank partnerships and credit card integrations. Plus, they’re working on a user rewards system.
There will also be new ad formats, which include full screen, video, and generative response ads. There’s also list messages and carousel-type catalog messages to improve user-business engagement.

Communication graduate, closet cynic, and kid at heart. Duane is a rare person to find, quite literally. He often takes to himself but has proven his mettle in tech media with his quick wits. Well, the portfolio of scriptwriting, web content, and public relations help too, we suppose. As a homebody, he often spends his time on the streaming platform Twitch or ‘farming’ gaming clips with friends. He is also an avid fan of round glasses and anything relative to blueberries.
