TuneCore, a development partner for self-releasing artists and owned by Paris-based Believe, one of the world's top digital music companies, has announced a series of local partnerships, workshops, and events to elevate the Cebuano music scene.
Independent artists from Cebu and other cities in Visayas and Mindanao can now release their music on popular digital platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, TikTok, YouTube, and Tidal through TuneCore's Unlimited distribution plans.
Artists using these plans can release unlimited music to global audiences while maintaining full ownership and control of their careers.
This initiative was introduced earlier this year during a workshop with 50 independent artists from Cebu and representatives from Spotify and YouTube.
TuneCore's Regional Head for Southeast Asia, Cyrus Chen, emphasized the company's focus on local-first efforts to better support regional artists.

"There's a lack of education on how to jumpstart a music career and limited performance opportunities in the region," said Chen. "TuneCore aims to fill that gap with workshops, masterclasses, and a community hub to ensure more frequent activations in Cebu."
TuneCore Country Coordinator Bong Address also shared, "We are hyper-local. With local teams on the ground that speak the native language, we pursue partnerships with key industry players to support the community. Through these collaborations, we fund hubs, work with TuneCore ambassadors, and organize workshops and gigs to expand our reach."
In Cebu, Making Space has become TuneCore's official community hub, providing a venue for indie artists to perform and connect with larger audiences. The space includes a Makerspace for creative endeavors, a Tea Shop & Gallery for art exhibitions, and a multi-use Studio where events are held.
The partnership between TuneCore and Making Space aligns perfectly, both embracing an independent spirit and a vision to support artists and creatives in pursuing their passions. Over the past year, Making Space has already established itself as a home for indie musicians of all genres, from hip-hop and pop to punk and hardcore.
Representing Cebu's music scene is TuneCore Ambassador Bobbi Olvido, a musician, producer and events organizer based in Cebu City. With 16 years of experience in the indie music scene, Bobbi has been involved in numerous bands and projects including Sunday Sunday, Foc Fashion, Kubra Commander, Coney Reyes On Camera, Soda Can Genie, The Spirals, Snubear, Red Twin Motel, Concave and Sheila and the Insects. He also runs John Bottles Events, a DIY production company that organizes small and medium-scale shows to uplift the Cebu indie music community. Bobbi embodies the DIY spirit of the industry, supporting fellow artists through gigs, collaborations, and his active involvement in music events.
Exciting things are happening to Cebu's music scene and, by partnering with Making Space and Bobbi Olvido, TuneCore is investing in the development and amplification of local Cebuano talent.
