COTABATO CITY, Philippines — A local government employee was shot dead by an unidentified assailant in Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao del Norte on Thursday.

Evangeline Abdullah died at the scene of the attack that occurred in Barangay Awang.

Witnesses said Abdullah was standing by the roadside when the assailant approached and shot her at close range.

Abdullah was a human resource officer of the municipal government of Shariff Saydona Mustapha in Maguindanao del Sur.

Probers have yet to determine if the killing was job-related.
