Nintendo makes good things.

That is something undeniable.

And the Nintendo Switch 2 is a good thing. It’s also very pricey, going up as much as $450, approximately P26,550.

For comparison, the PS4 was $399 upon release. I used the PS4 cause in terms of raw power, the Switch 2 and the PS4 are supposed to be on par. And that’s fine. We did get a lot of great games on the PS4.

So, for a $450 Switch 2, what will we be getting besides a bigger and improved Switch?

One of the features first explored during the Nintendo Direct was voice chat. The Switch 2 has a built-in ANC microphone, which you can bring out with the new C-Button in the new Joy-Cons. C for Chat.

The Joy-Con 2 is also magnetized and features a quick release button. It has mouse capabilities, which is perfect for their upcoming Metroid Prime 4 Beyond and Civilization VII. They announced Borderlands 4 as well, but, meh.

We also got news from the Nintendo Direct about Deltarune and Silksong, two of the biggest indie games that everyone is very excited about. I’ve always been joking that if Silksong is announced, the Switch 2 will be sold-out within moments.

Elden Ring and Final Fantasy VII Remake are coming to the Switch 2, which is incredible. But more than that, we have The Duskbloods. This game, developed by FromSoftware, is basically Bloodborne. And I mean that in every fantastic way.

First party titles, we’ve got nothing much to go on with here. MarioKart World looks fine. A new Kirby game was announced. Oh, a 3D platformer of a new Donkey Kong and it looks bananas.

All exciting and awesome news of course. Then Nintendo slaps you with the price tag. No, not the 450USD console. The games.

Some of Nintendo’s games will be 90USD. Some will be 80. This is insane and I mean that in the worst possible way.

I already get ulcers whenever I see a game at P3500. 90USD, by the way, that’s about P5,000. It’s not like we’re still in the year 2000s where you can go to a store and flip through binders (you know if you know) and choose a game on a whim. So GG guys. If you’re thinking the “smart gamer” way, which is where you wait out the price to go to a deep discount like any Ubisoft game six months later, then you’re wrong! Nintendo doesn't do discounts. Even if they did, it’s only 10 dollars off.

So yeah, nice. Great job Nintendo at the pricing. What worries me now, is that Nintendo knows they will get away with this. And this means, 80-90 dollar games are going to be the norm. How will competitors react? Would they follow suit?
