Hot on the heels of the official reveal of the Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo has announced that its online services will soon be officially available in more regions across Southeast Asia, including the Philippines.

These services include the Nintendo eShop and Nintendo Switch Online. While both services have been accessible in the past, users were limited to changing their Nintendo Switch system’s region to one of the supported markets (like the US) to access them.

Now, with Nintendo bringing these services officially to the Philippines, customers can expect prices to be listed in Philippine Pesos (PHP). This also opens the door to more localized content and features, making the experience far more seamless for Filipino users.

To recap, the Nintendo Switch 2 features a larger 7.9-inch LCD screen with 1080p resolution, while the upgraded dock supports 4K resolution and up to 120fps.

The new Joy-Cons look similar to the previous generation but now include magnetic attachments and new functionality like mouse control. A new “C” button on the right Joy-Con enables GameChat, for voice communication while playing, and GameShare lets players share their games with friends who don’t own them.

Under the hood, the Switch 2 is powered by a new NVIDIA custom chip and comes with 256GB of expandable storage. It also supports spatial 3D sound for a more immersive audio experience.

Backwards compatibility and NS2 Edition games

The Switch 2 will be backwards compatible with older Switch titles, but Nintendo is also rolling out upgraded versions of some popular games. These “Nintendo Switch 2 Editions” will offer enhanced graphics and new gameplay features.

Titles getting the update include:

  • Kirby and the Forgotten Land
  • Metroid Prime 4 Beyond
  • Pokemon Legends: Z-A
  • Super Mario Party Jamboree
  • The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
  • The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

Several third-party titles will also be available on the Switch 2, including Elden Ring, Cyberpunk 2027: Ultimate Edition, Borderlands 4, Star Wars Outlaws, and NBA 2K.
