The obvious difference here…

Difference here is, from what I have read and observed, he is being tried. No no-questions asked death squad appeared on his doorstep. He is being tried. See the difference? It might have angered a lot of folks that this person was blatantly humiliated by the public acquisition of him. But he is alive, alive enough to personally defend himself in a court of law. He’s alive and wealthy enough to afford a cadre of lawyers to defend himself against those accusations of him. He’s was given that privilege. A privilege others never received. Others who are ACTUALLY innocent. Others who were unlucky bystanders, casualties of “friendly” fire. The children who were just there besides the “suspects” and were just caught in the crosshairs of trigger happy peons. A modern day witch hunt, which when a person looks, dresses or acts differently. Differently enough to disturb the common people’s norms are deemed the witches of society.

People without means of having the same privileges were never given a fair shake. I hear testimonies of how the Philippines became safer, that people feel safer walking late at night, no longer fearing daily and nightly doped up villains. I agree with them. People need to feel safer at all times and we need leaders who would provide that safety. But at the same time we need those same leaders to pull, their most lethal punches, and be faithful to the RULE OF LAW.

This person needs to answer to the ones who were INNOCENT. Answer to the ones who were trying to turn their lives around, but unfortunately, the stigma, like a goddamn Sharpie marker stain, became a permanent trait. They were never given reprieve, they were never given quarter. Those are the ones screaming from their graves for justice. I don’t know these innocents, I gain nothing from posting this, besides the fact that if my kid, who is on the Spectrum, will never be mistaken for something socially undesirable, and be given the BENEFIT OF THE DOUBT.
