THE municipality of Ternate has partnered with Akbay Kalikasan Environmental Society Management Inc. (Akesmi), a registered environmental volunteer organization based in the province of Cavite, and Cavite Varsitarian, a fraternal youth organization, in holding the "Takbo Kalikasan Ternate 2025" fun run on March 2.

The foot race, which will be flagged off at the municipal plaza starting at 4 a.m., is a collaborative project in support of the initiatives centered toward environmental advocacy.

Sports and running enthusiasts are welcome to register via online at the akbaykalikasan.org website for the environmental and ecotourism running event that features three race distances: 3K, 5K and 10K.

"The municipality is endorsing this noble undertaking to support the establishment of a sustainable community-based environmental projects that will boost the municipality's ecotourism initiatives and at the same time [promote] health and wellness," said Ternate Mayor Lambert Bambao.

Race organizers encourage people from all walks of life to run, walk and participate in this activity that highlights the importance of community and environmental stewardship in support of Cavite province environmental programs.

Julio Castillo, Akesmi President and Cavite's foremost environmental advocate, said the fun run not only promotes health and wellness but, more importantly, stimulates the community's involvement in environmental projects being initiated with the support of local government units.

"As our society continuously progresses through modernization, our world is facing a multitude of environmental challenges that include climate change, soil and forest degradation and pollution, among other issues. It is incumbent upon us to take steps toward protecting and preserving our environment for generations to come," Castillo said.
