Tanjay City in Negros Oriental celebrates the annual Children's Festival with a pabitin game spanning over 400 meters long!
As seen in Kuya Kim's report on "24 Oras," Wednesday, the length of the pabitin makes it look like decorative banners hanging over the road.
Called "longest pabitin" by Tanjay residents, the tradition is part of their ways to thank the Sto. Niño.
"Way back in the early 1990s. Nag-start na po siya 'yung pabitin," said Children's Day 2025 chairperson Dr. Milagros Suyo. "All the chichiryas in the pabitin are taken from the funding of the LGU. 'Yung nag-prepare ng lahat are our employees."
The pabitin is a traditional game introduced to the Philippines by the Spaniards, like palo sebo.
It is usually played during Santa Cruz de Mayo in commemoration of St. Helen and Constantine the Great's search for the cross of Jesus Christ.
