FIRST Gen Corp. said Tuesday it has renewed a contract with Cebu Cube Ice Corp. for the supply of 600 kilowatts per month to a manufacturing plant in Mandaue City.

“We are very pleased to continue our partnership with Cebu Cube Ice Corporation as they invest in decarbonizing their operations,” First Gen chief customer engagement officer Carlo Vega said.

“This proves that large or small, any enterprise can find solutions to reduce their carbon footprint and use electricity more efficiently,” he added.

Cebu Cube Ice President and CEO Robert Tiu, meanwhile, said, “Our company was keen to use renewable energy as part of our good manufacturing practice and social responsibility.”

“We would like to thank First Gen for the continued partnership and we are proud to be manufacturing purified ice that uses the highest standards for safety and sanitation, but also with lower carbon footprint which will help the environment,” he added.

Cebu Cube Ice initially partnered with First Gen in 2022. It was one of the companies in Cebu that first adopted the government’s Green Energy Option Program.

Cebu Cube Ice, founded in 1992, was said to be the leading producer of purified ice in the province.

First Gen’s share price fell by 14 centavos to close at P17.26 apiece on Tuesday.
