Rufa Mae Quinto opened up about her relationship with her late husband, Trevor Magallanes, nearly two months after his sudden death.

In her official video statement titled, “Nagpakatotoo si Rufa Mae!”, the actress and comedienne admitted that their nine-year marriage was not perfect and that they had their fights.

“Nagmahalan po kami mula umpisa na nagsama kami. Never po kaming naghiwalay na—talagang kami pong dalawa… as in, on the very first day, alam ko na na siya ang mahal ko,” Rufa Mae said, turning emotional.

It was when they went on a family trip to Hawaii in November 2024 that they started having serious problems.

They were there to celebrate Trevor’s birthday, their anniversary, and Thanksgiving, but then Rufa Mae was served a warrant of arrest due to an estafa complaint.

Trevor did not react well to the news.

“Kinekwento ko pero syempre ‘pag galit na, hindi na niya masyadong ma-absorb,” Rufa Mae said. “English pa, syempre uutal-utal din akong magsabi. Nagmukhang guilty pa ang dating ko din. Kaya syempre nagalit."

However, she added that, "Nagayos po kami.nKaya nga hindi kami nag-divorce kasi na-realize din niya na asawa niya ‘ko.”

Rufa Mae said they called and patched things up, even seeing each other on Father’s Day. They even had plans for a date.

But the plans fell through.

“’Di na namin siya nakita after. Kumbaga, hindi na niya kami nasundo.”

Back in January, Rufa said that she and Trevor were going through a rough patch but that she had no plans to file for divorce. In May, she said that while she and Trevor remain married but, “Ayaw na rin niya, so ayaw ko na rin at ginagalang ko ‘yun.”

She broke the news of Trevor's passing on July 31, clarifying once again that she and Trevor had never gotten annulled.

Trevor's death was not due to foul play or suicide, but rather natural causes, Rufa Mae clarified.
