Nicole Hyala has been diagnosed with thyroid cancer.
On social media, the veteran radio host shared a video of herself from two weeks ago, detailing her diagnosis on her radio show.
“So… I just found out I have thyroid cancer," Nicole wrote in the caption.
"Surprisingly, I am calm. But before you panic, ayon sa mga eksperto, thyroid cancer is often called the "friendliest" cancer. And that’s good, because I’ve already been through worse,” she added.
According to Nicole, she has faced battles that broke her and seasons that nearly crushed her—but despite everything, she’s still standing, smiling, and shining.
“I’ve survived storms that could’ve drowned me, and this is just another wave I know I can ride, with God beside me,” she said.
Nicole shared that the diagnosis wasn’t part of her plan—but it was part of God’s. She believes that God has walked with her through even deeper valleys before, and now she’s trusting Him to walk with her through this journey as well.
“Thyroid cancer. You’re just another name and I have faith in the One who’s above all names. So let’s do this, thyroid cancer. You picked the wrong girl. Mali ka ng kinalaban. Wag ako. Hahahahaha!” she added.
Nicole also shared that she will undergo thyroid surgery or a thyroidectomy procedure in July.
According to Mayo Clinic, thyroid cancer is a growth of cells that starts in the thyroid. While it often shows no symptoms early on, it can later cause neck swelling, voice changes, difficulty swallowing, and swollen lymph nodes.
