MANILA, Philippines — Michelin Guide inspectors have included the Philippines as one of the countries to visit for food lovers.

The anonymous group named the Southeast Asian country in its announcement shared on Instagram.

"Time to start planning your next foodie trip in 2026! Swipe for must-visit destinations where the food scene is about to buzz a little louder in 2026 - as recommended by our Inspectors!" the famous food guide said.

"The Philippines: Filipino food claims its global moment in Manila and Cebu," it added.

The inspectors also recommended other countries, such as Italy, Turkey, China, Saudi Arabia, USA, Canada and Poland, for foodies to explore.

The Michelin Guide inspectors are a group of people who anonymously visit food destinations around the world and grade them based on its criteria, which include consistency and mastery of technique.

Last October, 108 restaurants and eateries in the Philippines were given various levels of honors and were included in the inaugural Michelin Guide Philippines list.

Makati-based, reservation-only restaurant Helm by Josh Boutwood received the highest recognition with two Michelin Stars.

Eight other restaurants – Asador Alfonso, Celera, Gallery by Chele, Hapag, Inatô, Kasa Palma, Linamnam and Toyo Eatery – each received one Michelin Star.
