MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Navy conducted a New Year maritime and sovereignty patrol in the West Philippine Sea while distributing media noche packages to troops stationed in the Kalayaan Island Group.

In a statement issued Tuesday, January 6, the Philippine Navy's Western Naval Command said the patrol was carried out by BRP Andres Bonifacio, combining maritime security operations with the delivery of media noche packages to deployed personnel.

"The activity was undertaken to sustain maritime security operations in forward maritime areas while ensuring the welfare and morale of deployed personnel during the New Year period," the Navy said.

"This combined mission underscored WNC's commitment to maintaining a persistent naval presence, enhancing operational readiness, and providing continuous support to troops stationed in remote and strategically significant outposts," it added.

Patrol operations, troop support

During the patrol, BRP Andres Bonifacio conducted operations across designated sectors within the Western Naval Command's area of responsibility in support of personnel stationed at Parola, Patag, Pag-asa, Likas and Lawak stations.

The Navy said the ship's continued presence enhanced maritime domain awareness, strengthened territorial presence, and ensured uninterrupted manning and logistical support for forward-deployed units.

"These operational efforts contributed to maintaining a secure and stable maritime environment while reinforcing WNC's broader maritime security and sovereignty objectives in the West Philippine Sea," the statement said.

"The timely distribution of media noche packages provided essential morale and welfare support to deployed personnel, highlighting the importance of troop welfare alongside operational effectiveness," it added.
