MANILA, Philippines — Oil companies will implement significant rollbacks today, offering motorists a reprieve after weeks of price hikes.
The Department of Energy (DOE) has set the minimum rollback for diesel at P9.26 per liter, gasoline at P4.76 per liter and kerosene at P10.86 per liter.
Energy Secretary Sharon Garin said some oil players took the initiative to implement advanced rollbacks, while others staggered the decreases or lowered prices even further.
The relief comes as the United States and Iran inch closer toward a deal, with reports stating that both countries may extend their ceasefire for another 60 days and reopen the Strait of Hormuz to commercial shipping.
Meanwhile, the DOE has set the maximum increase in the price of liquefied petroleum gas for June at P3.41 per kilogram, translating to a hike of P37.51 for the standard 11-kilogram cylinder.
