ANGELES CITY, Philippines — The body count of victims in the collapsed building in this city has risen to 13.

The Unified Command reported yesterday to Mayor Carmelo Lazatin II that the body of the 13th victim was retrieved at 1 p.m.

The body was turned over to the City Health Office for proper handling, tagging and
dentification.

The Angeles City Information Office said that responders were working to recover another body discovered near where the 13th body was found.

Earlier, retrieval operations recovered the body of the 12th victim at 4:12 a.m. yesterday under the debris of the collapsed building in quadrant 1.

Search, rescue and retrieval operations are still ongoing for the missing victims.

Meanwhile, the Angeles City Information Office released on Sunday the names of three of the five recovered victims. It said the Angeles City Police Office identified the three victims as Larry Sueno, 48, and couple Elsa Angcao, 50, and Joey Angcao, 48.

Other recovered remains are still undergoing Disaster Victim Identification protocols to see that these are properly identified before their families are informed.

PCG K9 dogs

Working dogs of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) on Sunday guided rescue teams in the search and recovery of four bodies that were buried beneath the collapsed building.

On the seventh day since they began their search and rescue for trapped victims, personnel from the PCG and other agencies reportedly recovered four more bodies from quadrants 1 and 2 at the site.

Three PCG working dogs – UXO, Travis and Summit – reportedly gave positive indications as to the location of victims during the search and marking operations. — Ric Sapnu, Evelyn Macairan
