MANILA, Philippines — After more than a year, state-run Maharlika Investment Corp. (MIC) is finally moving to fill its organizational structure and staffing pattern, but highly technical positions remain under review.

As seen in its website, the MIC has posted the list of available plantilla positions, as well as the corresponding salary grade and qualifications.

Based on the list, MIC is looking for four administrative officers in its human resources and procurement departments with monthly salaries ranging from P52,000 to P84,000.

The sovereign wealth fund is likewise hiring two accountants for its finance departments with a compensation of P52,000 per month.

Three executive assistants to be placed in the investment, finance and compliance and risk departments as well as two information system analysts for MIC’s information technology department are also available. These positions are under salary grade 10 or roughly P43,700.

MIC is also searching for three legal assistants in its legal department and Office of the Corporate Secretary with a monthly salary of P32,000.

Further, MIC is hiring investment analysts, investment associates, senior internal auditor and an audit manager.

The initial list of available positions is just a part of the estimated 42 roles under the interim staffing pattern covering non-highly technical positions.

The Governance Commission for GOCCs (GCG), however, noted that the guidelines for the highly technical positions are still being finalized between GCG’s corporate governance officers (CGOs) and the MIC.

“The guidelines proposed by MIC were a bit general, that’s why our CGOs needed to have clearer criteria for what is to be classified as highly technical,” GCG chairman Marius Corpus told The STAR.

“We can’t have generalized qualifications for the highly technical positions because the required specialization, experience and expertise must be relevant to each specific area of investment as identified by MIC,” he said.

Under the law, highly technical positions are not covered by the compensation and position classification system, which aims to provide a standardized compensation package and index of occupational services, position titles and salary grades for all GOCCs.

Corpus said the GCG en banc, which includes the secretaries of the Department of Finance and the Department of Budget and Management, would have to review and approve the recommendations of the CGOs.
