Bottoms up! Engkanto Brewery is leading the first summer craft beer festival in Makati City, featuring many other local breweries
MANILA, Philippines — Fancy an ice-cold glass of beer (or two) in this heat?
The first summer craft beer festival is all set from Friday to Sunday, May 16 to 18, at Ayala Triangle Gardens, Makati City, and local brands are taking the spotlight!
The Mabrewhay Craft Beer Festival is organized by 2024 World’s Best Beer winner Engkanto Brewery and co-presented by Ayala Land and Make It Makati. The organizers aim to surpass last year’s turnout of 7,500 attendees while promoting the art and science of brewing beer.
For three days, locally and internationally awarded Filipino breweries will come together to showcase their best craft brews. Among them are Elias Wicked Ales & Spirits, winner of the 2024 Asia Beer Championship’s (ABC) Champion title; Mitchell’s Backyard Brewery, whose Mocha Stout received an ABC Gold Award in 2024; and Cubao X Brewery, recognized as Brew King Philippines’ Most Creative Brew and Winning Brewery in 2024.
Other participating breweries include Boondocks Brewing, Bulul Brewery, Craft Beer Sanctuary, Kumintang Brewery, Monkey Eagle Brewery, Palm Tree Abbey, Papa Bolo, and Treeline Ales.
The Philippines Craft Brewers Association, Manila Mashers Homebrewing Club, Hitachino Nest from Japan, and Yakima Chief Hops will also be present to lead brewers’ sessions, a hops sensory experience, a homebrewing demo, and a beer-tasting masterclass.
Live performances by local musicians will set the mood for the event, featuring acts such as Anima Tierra, Purples n’ Oranges, of Mercury, Uncle Bob’s Funky Seven Club, Rafael Sudayan, and Mint Magic. DJ duo Groovesetters and DJ SARAH will also spin throughout the festival.
Aside from these activities, festivalgoers can enjoy games for all ages, including a frisbee bootcamp for kids and cornhole games. Fujifilm Philippines will host a short photography workshop at the event, and there will be food and giveaways from local chefs, brands, and entrepreneurs.
Admission to the Mabrewhay Craft Beer Festival is free and open to the public. Event start times are 4 pm on Day 1, 12 noon on Day 2, and 10 am on Day 3. – Rappler.com
