MANILA, Philippines — Lucy Torres-Gomez showed support for her husband and fellow actor-politician Richard Gomez at the 2025 Southeast Asian (SEA) Games by surprising him after his latest medal win.

Richard competed at this year's SEA Games as part of the Shotgun (Sporting Clay) Shooting Team event, taking home a silver medal. Host Thailand won gold, while Malaysia took home the bronze.

It marked his seventh medal at the biennial sports event dating back to when he first competed, for fencing, at the 2005 Games hosted by the Philippines. His medal haul now stands at two golds, four silvers, and one bronze.

Making the win even sweeter was Lucy's presence after the medals were given. Richard initially shared that Lucy would be watching from the Philippines because she needed to attend to her duties as Ormoc mayor.

On social media, Richard thanked teammates Carlo Martinez Baltonado and Eduardo "Jed" Rivilla, coach Per Magnus Pedersen, armorer Junjun Legare, and team manager Jeff Dayrit, as well as several politicians for their support.

He even thanked Lucy for "taking care of the team throughout our practice sessions and during our overseas training and competitions," and extended gratitude to the local government of Ormoc.

"We dedicate this medal to all Ormocanons who continue to support and carry us with pride, and to our fellow Filipinos. May we continue to achieve success in sports and reach even greater heights together," the Leyte 4th District representative said.

Richard and Lucy's daughter, Juliana, meanwhile is making her SEA Games debut in the women's Individual Foil for fencing.
