MANILA, Philippines — The Senate resumes session Monday, June 1, moments after Sen. Jinggoy Estrada surrendered to authorities over a plunder case.

The chamber has faced dramatic shifts over the past month after a power grab to install Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano, forming a new majority which included Estrada, and its protective custody of Sen. Bato dela Rosa, who is a fugitive from the International Criminal Court.

Dela Rosa left the Senate premises on May 14. Today’s session is expected to test how the Cayetano-led majority navigates another crisis involving one of its own.
