MANILA, Philippines — The agency representing South Korean actor Kim Soo-hyun has strongly denied allegations that he harassed the late actress Kim Sae-ron, calling the claims "clearly false and baseless."

The accusations stem from a recent broadcast by YouTube channel HoverLab Inc., which alleged that Soo-hyun had a long-term romantic relationship with Sae-ron, starting when she was a minor, and that he was involved in actions that negatively impacted her well-being. The channel also claimed that Soo-hyun and his agency, Gold Medalist, colluded with YouTuber Lee Jin-ho to harass the late actress.

In an official statement released March 10, Gold Medalist firmly rejected the accusations saying, as translated by Soompi.com, "These malicious claims directed at our company and actor Kim Soo-hyun are entirely false and cannot be tolerated under any circumstances. We are currently reviewing the strongest possible legal actions against HoverLab Inc. for spreading these falsehoods."

Sae-ron, known for her roles in "A Brand New Life" and "The Man from Nowhere," passed away last month at the age of 24. Her death has since sparked discussions about the intense cyberbullying and professional struggles she endured following her DUI scandal in 2022. Gold Medalist, which once represented the actress before their professional split, expressed their condolences in their statement.

"Our company is deeply saddened by the passing of the late Kim Sae Ron, who was once part of our agency, and we mourn her loss. However, the dissemination of such false information by HoverLab Inc. mirrors the very behavior of so-called 'cyber wreckers' that caused the late actress so much pain during her lifetime," Gold Medalist said.

"Their actions, driven solely by self-interest, not only damage our company but also tarnish the honor of the deceased, and thus we will respond to this matter with the utmost seriousness. We earnestly request that these baseless falsehoods not be further spread, amplified, or reproduced in any way. Thank you," the statement ended.

This is not the first time rumors about Soo-hyun and Sae-ron's alleged relationship have surfaced. Speculation arose in 2023 when Sae-ron posted an old photo of herself with Soo-hyun on Instagram Stories, leading to assumptions about their connection. At the time, Gold Medalist denied the rumors, and the matter eventually faded from public discourse.

However, with HoverLab Inc.'s latest claims — including allegations of agency misconduct and improper professional relationships — the controversy has reignited, leading to intense media scrutiny and public speculation.

Soo-hyun, 37 years old, is one of South Korea's most celebrated actors known for his roles in "Queen of Tears," "It's Okay to Not Be Okay" and "My Love from the Star."
