Keempee de Leon turned emotional as he narrated how he made peace with his father, Joey.

On Friday’s “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda,” Keempee said that before the reconciliation, he kept on seeing Bible verses about reconciliation and restoration, which reminded him of his dad.

“It happened by the grace of God. June, nung panahon ng Father’s Day. Doon nag-manifest sa akin. Parang sabi ko, ‘Lord, give me the courage and strength na harapin si daddy. Kung pagalitan ako, tatanggapin ko. Sigawan man ako sa harapan ng tao, OK, tatanggapin ko,’” Keempee said.

Keempee visited “Eat Bulaga,” where he found Joey sitting by the audience. He called his dad, which made Joey go, “Oh.”

“Ta’s total silence, wala siyang sinabi, lumapit ako and niyakap ko nalang. ‘Happy Father’s Day, ‘dy,’ sabi ko.”

They went outside, had some casual talk, and just as Joey was about to head out, he shook Keempee’s hand.

Thank you.”

In September, he was invited over to have lunch at Joey’s home with his wife Eileen and their other kids.

Keempee said that Eileen and his siblings couldn’t help but tear up. When asked why, they answered him, “Tagal mo kasing nawala, kuya.”

Moments later, Joey tried to hand Keempee an envelope, but Keempee initially declined and said, “Gusto ko maging OK lang tayo,” adding that his father is truly a generous man.

He also took the opportunity to properly apologize to his dad.

When asked how he also reconciled with his mom, Daria Ramirez, Keempee said that it was through his niece, Sophia.

Keempee is starring on “Prinsesa ng City Jail,” which airs weekdays at 3:20 p.m. after “Lilet Matias: Attorney-At-Law.” —Carby Basina/JCB, GMA Integrated News
