Jennylyn Mercado says her song 'Paulit-ulit Kang Pipiliin' is for Dennis Trillo

Jennylyn Mercado has a song she wrote especially for her husband Dennis Trillo in her Jen EP, which was released in May.

On Monday's episode of "Fast Talk With Boy Abunda," the Ultimate Star said the song is titled "Paulit-ulit kang Pipiliin."

"Gusto ko siyang maging parte nung album na 'yon kasi espesyal 'yung album na 'yon dahil bago 'yung recording company na ito, espesyal dahil katrabaho ko si Jonathan Manalo," the Kapuso actress said.

When asked how felt upon hearing the story behind the song, Dennis said he was surprised.

"Medyo personal 'yung mga narinig ko sa lyrics eh. Kaya kapag narinig mo parang designed talaga 'tong kanta na ito para sa akin dahil asawa ko 'yung gumawa eh," he said.

According to Jennylyn, she brought Dennis with her to the recording studio, but he had no idea what song she was working on.

"Sinurprise ko siya. Tapos noong natapos na namin 'yung kanta, pinarinig namin sa kaniya 'yung raw [song]. Sabi ko, para sa 'yo 'yan. Ito 'yung lyrics," she recalled. 

Upon hearing Jennylyn's revelation, Dennis said he couldn't help but feel emotional.

"Medyo pinipigilan ko 'yung pag-iyak ko dahil may mga camera eh. Pero sa loob-loob ko talagang grabe 'yung kirot dahil ang sarap sa pakiramdam na gumawa ng kanta na ikaw ang inspirasyon." 

"Paulit-ulit kang Pipiliin" is among the tracks included in Jennylyn's comeback EP "Jen." It also include the pre-release singles "Ayaw Pang Umuwi," and "Hindi Pa Rin Sapat."

She first teased her music comeback in 2023, when she shared she had a meeting with the Star Music team.
