THE Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), together with the local government of Guiguinto, Bulacan, inaugurated the Kalahi-CIDSS sub-project multi-purpose building, which will assist the local government in delivering social services to the community.

Sen. Imee Marcos led the ceremony on Sunday along with 5th District Rep. Ambrosio Cruz Jr., Guiguinto Mayor Agatha Paula Cruz, DSWD Field Office 3 regional director Venuz Rebuldela and lawyer Bernadette Joaquin, national program manager of Kalahi-CIDSS.
The teachers of Guiguinto Central School headed by their principal, Charito Laggui, as well as some special children and parents were also present.
Mayor Cruz said the construction of the Kalahi-CIDSS sub-project multi-purpose building was accomplished through the DSWD with the in-itiative and assistance of Marcos.
The ceremony coincided with the celebration of the 27th Halamanan Festival in Guiguinto.

Kalahi-CIDSS KKB (Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services-Power and Development in Barangay) is a program in the country that aims to reduce poverty by providing social services and local solutions.
"This program is one of the poverty alleviation programs of the government being implemented by the DSWD, where it uses the community-driven development approach. It is a globally recognized strategy for achieving service delivery, poverty reduction, and good governance out-comes," Joaquin said.
The inauguration was attended by barangay health workers, parent and teachers associations, and parents with special children, whom Marcos addressed and spoke with during the event.
The mayor thanked Marcos and the DSWD for the new facility that will help the Guiguinteños, particularly persons with disabilities (PWDs) and special children, as well families who have difficulty sending their children to school.
