SAN JOSE, OCCIDENTAL MINDORO — Governor Eduardo Gadiano suspended dredging operations in Mamburao on May 19, 2025 amid the complaints of residents.
Gadiano stopped PERRC Construction's dredging in Barangay Talabaan after residents complained of noise, disrupted livelihood, and permit violations.
The suspension order was issued after Zenaida Case Esparas filed a complaint through the 8888 Citizens' Complaint Hotline. Esparas and other residents claimed that PERRC's operations, which began on January 15, 2025, involved six to eight heavy machines operating from 4 a.m. to 11 p.m. The noise, they said, has disrupted their daily lives.
The complaint alleged that PERRC's activities were illegal and posed risks to the environment. The concern intensified after numerous dredging vessels arrived.
Pending the results of an official investigation, the provincial government has ordered PERRC to suspend all dredging activities in the area. It also ordered the company to answer the allegations.
