GMA Integrated News was recognized at the 12th Araw Values Awards held Tuesday evening at the Aliw Theater in Pasay City.

The climate change special series, “Banta ng Nagbabagong Klima” in “24 Oras,” received a bronze award for the values category “Concern For and Preservation of the Environment” under the Advocacy Communications competition division.

The award was received by Senior Vice President and Head for GMA Integrated News, Regional TV and Synergy Oliver Victor B. Amoroso, Senior Manager Christina V. Pascual, and GMA Integrated News reporter Katrina Son.

“Thank you to the Araw Values Awards. We are very grateful, GMA Integrated News primarily. Ginawa natin ito sa ating drive to raise awareness for climate change. Especially the topic, the issue has been there, so binigyan natin ng platform, binigyan natin ng airtime para mapagusapan siya,” Amoroso said.

With the recognition, Amoroso hopes that discussions on climate change continue and be given more attention.

“Ang network kasi ay patuloy ang pagbibigay pansin sa mga issues ng lipunan, ng ating bansa, and sa palagay natin ay isa na dito ang pinakaimportanteng issue ay ‘yung climate change. So ‘yung recognition na ‘to, hopefully would further drive us to elevate our commitment for that.”

It also received two more Certificates of Merit under the "Concern For and Preservation of the Environment" and "Love of God and Respect for Religious Beliefs" categories.

The Araw Values Awards is organized by the Advertising Foundation of the Philippines, Inc. (Ad Foundation).

It aims to promote “positive values for social changes and values advertising within the industry and is joined by an esteemed panel of judges, composed of industry leaders and experts.”

“Napakaimportante ng parangal na ‘to kasi ang mga values ng mga Filipino, seven cornerstone values, ‘yan ‘yung ni-re-represent ng Ad Foundation and ‘yung amin advocacy. At importante ‘yan kasi values are borderless, they’re timeless, they actually shape culture,” Ad Foundation Chairwoman Blen Fernando said.
