Derrick Monasterio opened up that his girlfriend, Elle Villanueva, almost died in an accident during their latest trip to Switzerland in February.
On Tuesday’s media conference for “Slay” at the Luxent Hotel in Quezon City, the Sparkle star shared that the near-death experience Elle had in Switzerland made him appreciate her more now that they are both safe.
“She almost died,” Derrick said, turning emotional. “Nasa [Swiss] Alps kami tapos nadulas siya, dire-diretso lang siya pababa.”
“Sobrang taas, two-storey high slope without seeing the end kasi sobrang foggy,” he added.
At that moment, Derrick said he feared losing the love of his life.
“Buti na lang safe kami, pero ‘yun ‘yung nagpa-realize sa ’kin na life is short,” he said.
“Huwag mong i-take for granted ‘yung buhay,” he added.
Aside from Switzerland, the Kapuso couple also witnessed the Northern Lights in Iceland in February.
Derrick stars in “Slay,” GMA Network’s first Viu Original series, together with Julie Anne San Jose, Gabbi Garcia, Mikee Quintos, and Ysabel Ortega.
“Slay” is set to air on GMA Prime beginning on March 24. It also streams on Viu Philippines.
