Toym Imao commends the company for connecting Filipinos with its cultural roots through arts
Have you ever wished your internet router, with its two antennas poking out from the corner of your house, could become an objet d’art that fits the aesthetic of your home or room? Imagine no more, as art meets tech with the newest Globe At Home 5G WiFi, now available with limited-edition skins designed by National Artists.
Unveiled at the “Art of Connection” launch at a:museum, Globe transforms the humble router into a collector's piece. The device now comes in two sleek base designs—Stone (white) and Blueberry—along with exclusive skins featuring the works of four Philippine National Artists.
This unique collection pays homage to the richness of Philippine art, showcasing iconic works from the country’s most celebrated artists: Vicente Manansala’s “Birdman,” Botong Francisco’s “Pageant of Commerce,” Larry Alcala’s “Barangay,” and Imao x Imao’s “Marahuyo.”
In an interview with Manila Bulletin Lifestyle, multimedia visual artist Toym Imao, son of the late National Artist for Visual Arts Abdulmari Imao Sr., shared that the router design featuring his father’s work is a collaboration blending his own artistic vision with his father’s legacy.
“This is our attempt to share the National Artist’s work on a different platform, and that’s the digital platform. We believe that accessibility is the name of the game,” Toym shared. “Once you have an accessible image of a particular artist, then appreciation and remembrance of those artists are ensured. It leaves a digital footprint.”
He went on to commend Globe for connecting Filipinos to the local art scene in an era where it is so easy to get lost both online and offline.

“Globe is very sensitive in addressing the roots of what makes a Filipino in terms of artistic traditions. It's all about connectivity,” he said. “You're bridging generations together. It's so easy to get lost within the deluge of images and stimuli from the digital world and the internet, making one lose their identity.”
Toym also emphasized the importance of highlighting elements that define our cultural roots.
“I think the more we connect, the more people say that identities become homogenized. It is very important for us to identify avatars of our nation—symbols, personalities, individuals, and experiences that make us Filipino,” he continued. “This initiative creates an environment for the younger generation, in the age of AI and advanced technology to be exposed in a digital landscape populated with iconography that reflects our Filipino heritage. And what better way to visually connect Filipinos than through the works of our esteemed artists?”
In the end, Toym encouraged everyone to get a piece of this limited-edition 5G router.
“You better get it. This is one of those personalized technologies that will connect you with your past,” he said.
With these skins, Globe elevates the way Filipinos experience internet connectivity—not just as a tool but as a meaningful part of their personal space. At Globe, we believe that technology should complement and enhance our everyday lives—not just functionally, but also aesthetically,” said Abigail Cardino, Globe At Home’s Head of Brand Management.
“By showcasing the works of National Artists, we are making connectivity not just seamless but also inspiring. These limited-edition designs turn our 5G WiFi device into a work of art that our customers can proudly display in their homes.”
The limited-edition artist skins will be available starting May 2025. Don’t miss the chance to own a piece of Filipino artistry while enjoying a best-in-class internet experience.
