MANILA, Philippines — Hollywood star Iain Glen — best known for playing Jorah Mormont in the hit "Game of Thrones" series — is joining the cast of TBA Studios' biographical historical movie "Quezon."
The film company confirmed on Monday, March 17, that Glen will play Leonard Wood, the United States Army major who served as Governor-General of the Philippines. Wood was a key figure during Quezon's pursuit of Philippine independence from the United States, though the two had differences and would often clash.
"Quezon" director and co-writer Jerrold Tarog said the casting of Glen as Leonard Wood makes the film "much more alive."
"He has gravitas. But at the same time, he can let loose, which is important for the role of Leonard Wood," he said.
TBA also shared photos and videos of the Scottish actor's script reading with Quezon stars Jericho Rosales (who plays the titular character, former president Manuel Quezon), Karylle Tatlonghari (as Quezon's wife, Aurora) and Benjamin Alves (as young Quezon). The session took place at The Manila Hotel earlier this year.

Aside from "Game of Thrones," Glen is also known for playing Dr. Alexander Isaacs in the action horror film series "Resident Evil" and Sir Richard Carlisle in "Downton Abbey." More recently, he played Dr. Pete Nichols in Apple TV+'s dystopian drama "Silo," and Magnus MacMillan in Prime Video's supernatural thriller "The Rig."
"Quezon" is produced by TBA Studios, the same studio behind box office hits "Heneral Luna" and "Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral." It will be the third installment in the film outfit's "Bayaniverse" series.
