Beer lovers this side of the metro may now experience the ‘World’s Best Beer’ of 2024
Engkanto Brewery has opened Engkanto Taps BGC, its flagship taproom in Forbestown. Following a successful grand launch in Sta. Rosa, Laguna, in early February, Engkanto Taps now brings its freshest local craft beers to Bonifacio Global City, including its World’s Best Honey Beer, as recognized at the 2024 World Beer Awards.
Fresh, flavorful, and exciting beer choices
A selection of eight craft beers on tap offers beer enthusiasts a variety of choices, including the Paint Me Purple Ube Lager and Mango Nation Hazy IPA, both gaining popularity in the U.S. and Australia. Seasonal brews featuring local ingredients add to the excitement, with past limited releases incorporating local flowers and fruits. Plans are underway to bring these specialty brews back fresh on tap.

As for newcomers eager to explore the world of different beer styles, Engkanto Taps is the best place to start with a beer flight option that allows sampling of four different beers in friendlier portions.
"Our excitement is sky-high because Taps is finally here in BGC and in Manila," describes Ricard Basora, managing director of Engkanto. "We had so much fun launching Engkanto Taps, Sta. Rosa in the south and the people are so warm and welcoming to us. This time around, BGC is the newest place to be for beer lovers in Manila. Everything great about local beers is here. Not to mention the unique cocktails and complementing food. How can you not go to Taps and miss out on all the fun?" Ricard adds.
Signature cocktails
While beer takes center stage at Engkanto Taps, the experience is elevated with signature cocktails crafted around the distinct flavors of Engkanto brews. One standout is the Sampa-Loca Highball, a blend of the zesty Green Lava Double IPA and agave syrup. Another is the Nutty C Nice-Presso, a creative twist on the espresso martini, enhanced by the rich creaminess of the Nutty C Nice Choco-Nut Stout.
"The Engkanto team is here to grow the craft community in the country and to us that means sharing an authentic and fantastic experience at Taps," says Ian Paradies, founder of Engkanto. "This entails demonstrating our skills in curating drinks and different dishes beyond showing our love for great beers."

Mouthwatering bar chow
Filipinos can't get enough of yummy food next to their beers and that's something Michael 'MJ' Jordan, brewmaster of Engkanto, hugely appreciates about the drinking culture in the Philippines.

"From the soft launch and grand opening of Engkanto Taps, Sta. Rosa, I've seen so many people enjoy the beers as much as the food," says Jordan. "I live around the area, so I've invited some friends and met new ones. There's no place like it because of the laid back atmosphere, fun vibes, and of course, great food and beer. It's going to be the same in BGC, and maybe even more energy from the nighttime crowd finding a place to chill and unwind."

Chef Luis de Terry, a seasoned expert in beer and food pairings, leads the kitchen at Engkanto Taps. His menu highlights include the spicy Croqueta Gonzalez—chili-con beef in creamy potato balls—and Yiken Inasal sa Gata, a unique twist on the classic Bacolod skewer. Drawing inspiration from the creativity of craft beers, Chef Luis incorporates Engkanto brews into house-made sauces and accompaniments, such as the Engkanto Ale Mustard served with the Sausage Party platter.
Engkanto Taps BGC is located at Forbes Town, near Burgos Circle, and is open daily from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m.
