Elijah Canlas wrote a touching letter for his late brother JM in honor of his birthday.
The Gawad Urian-winning actor posted a photo with JM at the beach on Instagram.
“Happy birthday in heaven, pinakamamahal naming JM!” Elijah said. He also hoped that JM celebrated and had fun.
“I miss you everyday it hurts,” Elijah said.
He added, “You deserve all the peace and happiness that this world and I regretfully couldn’t provide. I love you forever, kulit.”
JM passed away in August 2023 at 17 years old. A cause of death was not named, but his family said that he struggled with his mental health.
At the time, Elijah wrote a moving letter addressed to his brother: “You are far too beautiful for this world, JM. We do not deserve you. This world does not deserve you.”
On JM's first death anniversary in 2024, Elijah penned another letter honoring his memory.
"I'm still so sorry about how things ended. I sometimes think life has lost all its meaning when you passed away. But we manage to find and give life different meanings each day to carry on. You’ll always be at the core of it though. Never forgotten," wrote Elijah.
In honor of JM, Elijah attended Olivia Rodrigo’s Philippine concert as JM was a big fan of the artist.
JM is best known for appearing in the films “Kiko Boksingero” and “ANi.” He was also a voice actor and was part of the Tagalog dub of “Coco,” “Stranger Things,” “Home Alone,” “Extraction,” “Little Einsteins,” and many more.
