Rising singer-actor Dylan Menor felt “overwhelmed” and grateful by the growing list of projects flowing into his career. Among them are Cignal Play’s recently launched microdramas, where he is featured in two series, “My Father’s Last Wish” and “A Cure Called Love.”
He is also part of Viva One’s “Mission Impossible: Seducing Drake Palma,” alongside Rabin Angeles and Angela Muji. He launched his debut single Maghapon, under Universal Records Philippines early this year.
During the Cignal Play’s mediacon held at the Cignal Launchpad Lobby, TV5 office in Mandaluyong City, he was asked for his reaction to being hailed as “this generation’s next leading man.”
“Oh my God. I don’t know how to feel. Until now, I’m still overwhelmed with what’s happening. But I’m thankful that they’re giving me opportunities. And I make sure to work myself pa, improve on my craft if that’s what they want from me, to be a leading man. So, if that’s what they want, then for me, I’m very appreciative and I’ll do my job. I’ll do my best,” he humbly responded.
It has been his goal to do an action genre series or movie and essay a lead role in a romantic comedy movie. Given the chance to star in the latter, Dylan said he is open to working with anyone as his onscreen partner. “I’m not choosy. As long as mag-click kami, there’s chemistry, (I’m open to collaborate with) any artist.”
As a newcomer in the entertainment business, Dylan acknowledged that it’s inevitable to experience self-doubt. “But as long as you have trust in yourself, you have the courage to work hard for your craft and show people the role you have to portray, that’s what’s important,” he added.

The young artist previously attended an acting workshop with direk Rahyan Carlos, where the former earned praise from the director for his performance.
“Well, I don’t know. I can’t say because... I think I only had six or eight workshops with direk. So, alam mo yun hindi ko rin masabi na gumaling ako agad or nag-improve ako agad.”
Moreover, Dylan offered his opinion on the growing popularity of the vertical dramas, a format that originated in China, and how it impacted television consumption.
“Well, I believe that every generation for sure has changes,” he pointed out. “In the entertainment industry, I’m sure there are a lot of changes and the industry has evolved.
“Maybe it’s a sad reality that, di naman pinapatay, but andun pa rin naman yung TV, eh. But it’s like the industry is tapping into the mobile market that’s why there’s vertical microdramas and also to target the market with a short attention span, like me. So, I think this is also a good platform for people to watch them, if they want shorts.”
In the kilig-filled romance “A Cure Called Love,” which is soon to be launched on the app, Dylan is paired with Micah Santos, with whom he has previously collaborated.
“Micah is kind, super kind. She’s easy to work with,” he said of Micah. “I believe she worked in ABS-CBN before in ‘Pamilya Sagrado.’ At first, I was hesitant because she was 17 when we worked together. I was 23. But surprisingly, she’s good. She’s easy to work with.”
“My Father’s Last Wish” is another Dylan-starrer microdrama, which tells the story of a son fulfilling his father’s dying request. Johnny Revilla, Gerald Madrid, Alex Medina and Dawn Chang are part of the cast.
The other titles now streaming on the app are “I See You,” starring Dimples Romana, Joem Bascon, Cedrick Juan, Pearl Gonzales, Glenda Garcia and Zion Cruz; “3 Queens and a Baby,” a comedy series featuring Christian Bables, TJ Valderrama, Iyah Mina, Daniela Stranner, Donna Cariaga, Christian Vasquez and Iven Lim; and “Baker’s Heart,” a romantic tale about second chances with Queenay and Paulo Angeles as actors.
‘My Father’s Last Wish’ and ‘A Cure Called Love.’ The latter sees him paired with Micah Santos, while other cast members are (from left) Lao Rodriguez, Matthew Mendoza and Pinky Amador.
“We believe that storytelling has the power to connect, inspire and transform. With Cignal Play Microdrama, we’re bringing a new dimension to Filipino content that is short, impactful, relatable,” MediaQuest and Cignal president and CEO Jane Basas remarked.
She recalled at the mediacon that they got introduced to the vertical format while attending a telco conference in Bali in June last year. She noticed the numbers growing in China, the United States and Asia in the past months.
“And when we studied it, I felt that it was such a perfect format for the product that we have. Cignal Play has actually been out in the market for one year already. But Cignal Play carries linear channels, so the channels that you see on the Cignal box are actually mirrored in the Cignal Play app. It carries live content, video-on-demand content both international and local content. So, this was the first time that we thought that maybe it should carry shorts,” she shared.
It took a year to bring the microdramas to life, continued Basas. “I congratulate the team for building it and ang commitment lang namin is that this is more than short videos. We are giving you meaningful narratives that we’ve crafted for the Filipino audiences. Committed po kami sa quality writing, quality directing and quality performances.”
Cignal chief revenue officer Gerard Milan added, “We’re proud to offer this innovative format that delivers authentic stories that resonate with our Filipino audiences.
“We have more Originals in the pipeline in the months ahead. Our goal is to make premium storytelling accessible anytime, anywhere. One minute you’re laughing, the next you’re crying — that’s the Cignal Play Microdrama magic.”
The app also streams vertical dramas from its partner, Dashflix, a mobile-first short-form video producer known for its focus on bite-sized, high-quality content designed for viewers who are always on the go.
The first five episodes of every title are free to stream, with full access to the rest of the episodes available for only P20 per day. To watch the titles, download the Cignal Play app now on the App Store or Play Store.
Meanwhile, MediaQuest chairman Manuel V. Pangilinan was serenaded with a “Happy Birthday” song and presented with a cake during the event. His birthday is July 14.
