MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) has deployed Health Emergency Response Teams in major thoroughfares to provide assistance to commuters going home to their provinces for the national and local elections tomorrow.

According to the agency’s announcement on Facebook, DOH emergency teams were put on standby at health posts along the North Luzon Expressway as well as the South Luzon Expressway.

On election day, the DOH will set up health posts in the different voting centers or polling precincts.

“This election time, let us be safe and calm while on the road. Make sure that you are in good condition before you go out and commute or drive,” DOH Secretary Ted Herbosa said in a statement.

“The public can also call 911 or the DOH Hotline 1555 and press 2,” the DOH said.

Earlier, the DOH advised that Code White Alert will be in effect starting today until May 14 across the country.

“This is to ensure the readiness of health facilities and personnel to respond to any potential health emergencies before, during and after election day on May 12,” the DOH said.

Code White Alert means that hospitals are expected to activate their operations centers, which will continue to report and coordinate with regional and central DOH offices. –  Ramon Lazaro
