MANILA, Philippines — Actor-host Dingdong Dantes concisely debunked as false a viral post claiming he commented on Vice President Sara Duterte's intention to run for president in the 2028 polls.
Dingdong shared on his Facebook account a screenshot of a post made by a certain Amy Imperial Ugay alleging that the actor mentioned fearing the outcome of Sara winning.
"Nakikita ko sa kanya ang tapang, talino, at abilidad na may kakayahang mamuno gaya ng KANYANG AMA," Ugay claimed Dingdong said, referring to Sara's father and former president Rodrigo Duterte.
The elder Duterte is currently awaiting trial before the International Criminal Court at The Hague, Netherlands, for crimes against humanity in relation to his bloody drug war, which killed upwards of 6,000 to 30,000 people.
However, Dingdong immediately struck down any notion that he made such comments, simply writing in his caption for the screenshot, "Hindi ko ‘to sinabi," accompanied by the face-palm emoji.
As of writing, Dingdong's post is nearing 900,000 reactions (a huge majority of them laugh reactions), 30,000 shares and over 16,000 comments.
Ugay has since deleted her post, claiming she apologized to the actor after reposting what she had seen on TikTok and Threads.
She later admitted that her initial post was humiliating but it was more embarrassing to be a thief. Her profile's features and posts indicate she is an avid supporter of the Dutertes.
