MANILA, Philippines — Citing positive security developments, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has lowered the alert in Israel for Filipinos to level two (restriction phase) from level three (voluntary repatriation).
At level two, essential travel to Israel is allowed, such as official visits and business delegations.
Filipino workers who went on vacation in the Philippines can return to Israel with a valid Overseas Employment Certificate and re-entry visa.
Non-essential travel is not allowed, such as trips by pilgrims, tourists and newly hired workers.
Alert level two, as recommended by the Philippine embassy in Tel Aviv, became effective Monday.
Seventy-five Filipinos have been confirmed for the next batch repatriation, the embassy said.
Twenty-six overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) have undergone voluntary repatriation, while 100 Filipino pilgrims and students were repatriated earlier.
Fifty OFWs are returning from Israel in three batches, starting today until Saturday, Migrant Workers Undersecretary Felicitas Bay said.
Deployment of OFWs returning to Israel will soon resume as Middle East tensions ease, Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Cacdac noted.
