MANILA, Philippines — David Licauco is a priest for his next screen role this summer.
Or so it seems as he is seen wearing a deacon’s uniform in the latest teaser for his upcoming movie with Sanya Lopez titled “Samahan ng Makasalanan.”
The teaser shows David’s character arriving in a fictional town called Santo Cristo.
Presumably as part of his new role, he gets acquianted with the town through a tour in one of its popular places called Kalye Makasalanan (loosely translated as Sinner’s Street).
There, he sees businesses and personalities associated with worldly excesses: gamblers and their gambling dens; car thieves and chop shops; a throng of gossipmongers; and sex workers.
The different characters are portrayed by promising new leading man and David’s “Pulang Araw” co-star, Jay Ortega, as a chop shop worker; Charise Solomon as the ring leader among the town Mariteses (gossipmongers); Jun Sabayton as a gambling lord; and Soliman Cruz as a crime boss.
The trailer also shows Joel Torre as a priest and David’s other “Pulang Araw” co-star, Sanya Lopez, in a fuchsia two-piece.
The trailer ends with a close shot of David’s face, at first registering a wide-eyed look, and then it immediately switches to a knowing smile.
Directed by Benedict Mique, “Samahan ng Makasalanan” hits local theaters on April 19. — Video from GMA Network YouTube channel
