MANILA, Philippines — Police in Central Luzon confiscated P1.13 billion worth of illegal drugs last year as their counterparts in Calabarzon cited the arrest of 4,075 people.

Records from the Central Luzon Police Office showed the confiscation of 164 kilos of shabu and over 50 kilos of marijuana leaves, plants and kush from Jan. 1 to Dec. 31 last year.

Police said the anti-illegal drug operations led to the arrest of 788 high-value and 9,937 street-level targets.

The region’s crackdown on organized crime groups resulted in the arrest of 47 crime gang members.

Police reported that crimes in Central Luzon declined from the 36,444 cases reported in 2024 to 35,706 cases last year. Index crimes also dropped from 3,713 in 2024 to only 3,228 in 2025.

Brig. Gen. Ponce Rogelio Peñones Jr., Central Luzon police director, said the crime solution efficiency for focus crimes in the region improved from 67.01 percent to 70.42 percent.

“These accomplishments show that when police operations are intelligence-driven, disciplined and supported by the community, we achieve real results. Our focus remains clear – to protect the people, pursue peace and order, and promote professionalism in everything we do,” Peñones said.

In Calabarzon, regional police director Brig. Gen. Paul Kenneth Lucas said the “achievements are a testament to the hard work, discipline and unity” of the region’s personnel.

Police reported the arrest of 4,075 people wanted for murder, homicide and heinous crimes.

Lucas also cited the seizure of over P646 million worth of illegal drugs during the 8,770 operations conducted last year.

“These accomplishments reflect the command’s unwavering commitment to uphold the law, protect the public and sustain peace and order throughout the region,” Lucas said. — Ed Amoroso
