Carl Raymond Cruz has officially assumed the role of President and CEO of Globe Telecom, unveiling a future-focused strategy anchored on innovation, customer-centricity, and digital inclusion.

In his first public address at the “Go Forward Together” media briefing earlier today at Makati City, Cruz emphasized Globe’s renewed commitment to driving purposeful growth amid a stabilizing economy and an increasingly digital Filipino population. “We are focused on inclusive growth by widening access to technology and financial tools that make everyday life better,” Cruz said.

Cruz takes over Globe’s leadership at a pivotal time. The Philippines now ranks third globally in average daily internet usage, according to the 2025 Digital Report, positioning Globe to lead the charge in expanding connectivity. The company’s dual engines — telecommunications and fintech through GCash — serve 60.9 million mobile users and 8 out of 10 Filipinos in financial transactions.

Backed by strong financials, Globe posted a record-high PHP165 billion in gross service revenues in 2024 and achieved a 14% rise in core net income to P21.5 billion. Its fiber broadband service, GFiber Prepaid, also gained traction with 260,000 subscribers and notable sequential revenue growth.

Under Cruz’s leadership, the company is ramping up investments in infrastructure, deploying over 1,200 new cell sites and nearly 600 5G installations in 2024, bringing 5G coverage to nearly all of Metro Manila and major cities in Visayas and Mindanao. Globe also extended its reach to underserved communities by building 600 cell sites in geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas (GIDAs).

Central to Cruz’s vision is the integration of artificial intelligence across customer service and network operations. Globe’s AI-powered systems now offer real-time insights, predictive support, and proactive maintenance to improve user experience and operational efficiency.

Cruz reaffirmed Globe’s broader ambition, “Our ambition is to be the largest, most profitable, most admired, and highly engaged telecom company in the country. Backed by purpose, technology, and people, we are building a progressive and inclusive digital nation.”

As Globe enters a new chapter under Cruz, it remains steadfast in building a progressive digital nation — one that champions innovation, expands digital and financial access, and uplifts lives through responsible and sustainable technology.
